Priority and newsletters

How Fluxmail decides what is important and keeps bulk mail in its own place.

Prioritization lifts the mail that needs you to the top, and newsletter detection moves bulk mail aside. Both happen automatically as mail comes in.

How priority works

When a message arrives, Flux AI weighs who sent it, what it's asking for, and how you've dealt with similar mail before. Then it assigns one of three priorities:

  • Needs reply is a message waiting on a response from you.
  • Needs follow-up is a thread where you've already sent something and might want to circle back. It only applies to conversations you've taken part in.
  • Important is time-sensitive or high-value mail. Login and verification codes count, since they don't stay useful for long.

Mail that doesn't clear the bar gets no priority, so it stays out of the Priority view in Home and waits under the All tab instead.

Teaching it your preferences

You can override any call. Use Mark as priority or Remove from priority on a thread, then choose whether the change applies to that one email or to everything from the sender. The sender option writes a rule so it sticks, and Fluxmail picks up on your corrections over time.

The Newsletters shelf

Marketing, digests, and announcements get grouped on the Newsletters tab instead of fighting for space in Home. Fluxmail works out what counts as a newsletter by analyzing the message rather than just trusting the unsubscribe header, so real updates like security alerts and receipts still reach you while the promotional blasts get set aside.

Each sender gets its own spot on the tab, laid out like a magazine: one cover per sender, with the most recently active senders first. Open a cover to read every issue from that sender in one place instead of digging through separate threads. The newest issue sits on top.

When you're done with an issue, mark it done and it leaves the Newsletters tab. It's archived, not deleted, so it stays searchable. Clear out all of a sender's issues and its cover drops off the tab too. If you want to unsubscribe from a newsletter, you can do so in one click.

Want a sender treated as a newsletter from now on? From Home, open a thread's menu and choose Move to Newsletters. To reverse it, choose Move to Home from the Newsletters tab.
